Can You Correct Your Vision Problems with

Contact Lenses?

Contact lenses can be used in place of frames to correct many types of vision problems, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia. While most people who need corrective lenses can use contacts, some patients are not good candidates for them:

Anyone who suffers from severe allergic reactions
Anyone who has had repeated eye infections
People who are regularly exposed to dust, dirt, grit or smoke

What Types of Contact Lenses

Are Available?

There are generally two common types of contacts—those with soft and those with hard lenses. Most people can wear the soft lenses, but hard contacts can provide clearer vision for some eye conditions.

The soft lenses may be either daily-wear (requiring removal every day) or extended wear (usually for periods of up to a week).
